1980-2020, Tavolo con Ruote and Parola table lamp make a come back to celebrate their 40thanniversary
The furniture and lighting company presents a limited edition of two successful products from its catalog. FontanaArte launched Gae Aulenti’s Table with Wheels and the Parola lamp, by the same designer with Piero Castiglioni in 1980. Forty years later, they are still two bestsellers and they are celebrated with a 2020 Limited Editions of only 400 numbered pieces each.

Internationally famous architect Gae Aulenti said: “It’s very difficult for me to do minimalist things because I don’t seek minimalism, but rather simplicity, which is a very different thing.” Indeed, the two design accessories that she created for FontanaArte are the result of an extreme work of formal cleanliness. The low table – a simple slab of crystal supported by four free-moving industrial wheels – was created by observing the industrial trolleys used at FontanaArte’s headquarters to transport the glass for its lamps and furnishings. The lamp, on the other hand, derives from the idea of re-proposing, in a serial design product, the craftsmanship of blown glass: a perfect opaline sphere, partially cut, grafted onto a transparent hollow stem with a thick yet visually ethereal crystal base. Simple and evocative objects, which have become icons in the history of the Made in Italy.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Tavolo con Ruote and Parola will bear on the crystal a silkscreen print with the names of the product, the company, and the designers, as well as the serial number. This number is also handwritten on the certificate of authenticity. Also available online, on the company’s website, the table and the lamp are made to order.
