The brainchild of Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani, Italdesign was founded in February 1968 in Turin as a Design, Engineering, and Prototyping service company for the automotive world. During this half-century Italdesign has always been one step ahead of market changes and has continued investing in R&D, technologies, infrastructures, and, above all, in people, maintaining its role as a major player in the mobility world.
The 50th anniversary celebration program will open officially on March 6th with the press conference at the Geneva International Motor Show. In June Italdesign will participate in the Turin Motor Show and in the Automotive News Europe Congress, which will welcome in Italdesign’s headquarters – that organized by the company jointly with Automotive News Europe – more than three hundred automotive industry professionals from all over the world.
Also in June, the company will open its doors to employees, former employees and families for a day rich of attractions and events. Moreover, looking forward to the ‘next 50’, Italdesign launched a competition opened to young innovators (aged between 18 and 35), on the theme of ‘Future Mobility in Cities’. The participants, who may also create small groups, are invited to submit solutions for future mobility in urban areas, also dedicated to developing countries. The winners, that will be announced in December 2018, will be awarded prizes for a total of €40,000.
Italdesign’s CEO Jörg Astalosch commented: “We are proud of what we have achieved in these fifty years. Italdesign has always stood out for its ability to dare, to be ahead of its time and anticipate the industry’s needs, working daily to raise the bar of quality standards.”
