Stars of Italian entertainment, culture, and cuisine in the USA support of Italian agro-food products

Italians and Americans alike are still asked to stay home to contain the current health crisis. So, the Italian Embassy in Washington, together with the 9 Italian Consulates and the Italian Trade Agency offices in the USA, launched the “Stay at home and #cookitalian” campaign.

The objective is to support the Italian agro-good export to the USA, by promoting the use of original Italian products at home. Chefs, celebrities, and personalities from the world of culture from across the USA enthusiastically joined the campaign. For this campaign, the Italian Embassy in Washington and the Italian Consulates are publishing on their Facebook pages a series of 11 videos.

These have been “home-made” by Italian and Italian-American personalities showcasing their favorite recipes.

They are all simple recipes made with original Italian products readily available on the US market. All the dishes are paired with a classic Italian wine.

Lidia Bastianich

Lidia Bastianich, TV star and author of best-selling cookbooks, presented the first video recipe, published on May 4th. Since then, the Embassy published three more video recipes. Their authors are Mario Rizzotti, culinary judge and TV personality, Marisa Iocco, owner and executive chef of  Spiga’ restaurant in Boston, and Giancarlo Ferrara, owner and chef of ‘Amalfi’ restaurant in Houston.

Today, we will see the recipe of Giada De Laurentiis, television star and owner of many restaurants in the USA. While, next week, the Embassy will publish, daily, other five ones. They will feature Alice Waters, Vice President of Slow Food International and author of the best seller ‘The art of Simple food’; Luciano del Signore, chef and owner of the restaurants ‘Bacco’, ‘Bigalora’ and ‘Pernoi’ in Detroit; Giorgio Rapicavoli, chef and owner of restaurants in Miami; Stefano Secchi, chef of the restaurant ‘Rezdora’ in New York; and Danilo D’Eugenio, and Monica Fenocchio, chefs and owners of ‘DaMo’ Pasta Lab’ in Philadelphia.

The last video will see the exceptional contribution of Isabella Rossellini, actress and iconic figure of the Italian cultural scene in the USA. On May 18th, she will present a recipe with a family touch.
