The historic Tuscan winery is at absolute No. 6 of ‘The World Most Admired Wine Brands 2020’
It all began in 1180 when a distant ancestor of the wine dynasty, Rinuccio, began producing wine in Cambiate Castle, near Calenzano (Florence). However, the real forefather is Giovanni di Piero Antinori, who, in 1385, joined the guild of the “Arte dei Vinattieri” (art of winemakers). A passion that has been handed down for 26 generations. And in 2020 the Marchesi Antinori brand is the first brand of made in Italy and n. 6 absolute of ‘The World Most Admired Wine Brands 2020’, signed by Uk Drinks International magazine, in collaboration with Wine Intelligence.
The historic Tuscan winery today is led by Marchese Piero Antinori and his daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia.
Their motto is “Futuro Antico” (ancient future). Indeed, the Antinori family has been dedicated to wine production for more than 600 years.
And throughout its long history, they always run their business with innovative and sometimes courageous choices but also with great respect for traditions and the territory.
Piero Antinori explains that, over the years, they have shown that in Tuscany and Umbria it is possible to produce high-quality wines. These are internationally recognized to reveal elegance and finesse while always maintaining the original character. “Our library has many titles – he sais – but for us, it is not rich enough. We have a mission that is not fully accomplished.” They aim to express the vast potential of their vineyards while reconciling what remains to be discovered with the heritage of the Tuscan taste. This includes the traditions, culture, agriculture, art, and literature that represent the identity of the Marchesi Antinori.
