Season 1 of Master of None wrapped with Dev (Aziz Ansari) leaving the US on his own Eat, Pray, Love-style mission. Season 2 finds him ticking those items off his list, before his return to New York forces him take on various challenges in both his personal and family life, alongside a new career opportunity and plenty more romantic intrigue. On his Italian-flavored getaway Dev meets his Italian flame played by the 30 year old Italian actress Alessandra Mastronardi.
Mastronardi appears in the Netflix TV series created by Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang after her many roles in Italian TV series and her parts in movies directed by important directors of the international scene: To Rome with Love by W. Allen, Life by A. Corbijn, Lost in Florence by E. Oppenheimer, Titanium White by P. Smigasiewicz.
Modena has been the set for most of the scenes set in Italy. During the shooting, which took place last summer, the town was invaded by hundreds of actors, extras, technicians, makeup artists and writers, also many local extras appeared in the Italian scenes – 300 of them were hired through the casting that took place directly in town. Amedeo Faenza president of Federalberghi-Confcommercio in Modena commented: “We are proud that our town has been chosen for a production of this magnitude. It will be an amazing showcase.” And indeed it will offer great exposure to the town and free advertising for the local tourism industry.
Master of None 2 will be aired by Netflix from Friday, May 12, 2017.
