At the next Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles there will be one of the 14 movies running to represent Italy in the Best Foreign Language Film category. As requested by the Academy Awards, on September 26, a commission set up by ANICA (Associazione Nazionale Industrie Cinematografiche Audiovisive, the Italian national association of movie and audiovisual industries) will meet on 26 September to nominate the Italian candidate at the 2018 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The selected Italian movie will then compete to be shortlisted among the nine foreign language movies that will run for an Academy award. The Italian movies that will be considered by ANICA were distributed in Italy between October 1, 2016, and September 30, 2017, and they are:

Una famiglia (A family) by Sebastiano Riso

Ho amici in Paradiso by Fabrizio Maria Cortese
L’ora legale (It’s the Law) by Salvatore Ficarra e Valentino Picone
