The first major retrospective in Italy dedicated to the works of the world-famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero – born in 1932 – will be held is in the splendid location of the Vittoriano complex in Rome. The great masterpieces of the Colombian artist, depicting men, animals and vegetation, will lead visitors through an almost dreamlike experience with a Latin American feel.
The “Botero” exhibition – promoted by the ‘Cultural Growth Department – Capitoline Superintendence of Rome Capital’s Cultural Heritage’, with the patronage of the ‘Lazio Region’ and under the aegis of the ‘Institute for the history of the Italian Risorgimento’ – celebrates his long and prolific career – he produced his art from 1958 to 2016.
“Botero” will give the audience the opportunity to admire about 50 works of one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century, all characterized by the strong Latin-American influence, brilliant colors, and voluptuous, voluminous figures that constitute his signature style, known as Boterismo.
The exhibition will be open from May 5 until August 27.
