‘Giudizio Universale. Michelangelo and the secrets of the Sistine Chapel’, this is the title of the impressive show programmed, in Italian and English, from March 15th to April 15th 2018 at Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome.
The first ‘Artainment’ show ever produced about Michelangelo Buonarroti and ‘The Last Judgment’ in the Sistine Chapel perfectly combines the most modern demands of entertainment with the most advanced educational requirements. It is a unique live performance that brings together in a single project the philological story of the birth of Michelangelo’s most famous masterpiece with the most sophisticated and technologically advanced instruments of live entertainment, in a 100% immersive show. The 60-minute performance brings on stage the complicated relationship between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II with Michelangelo himself leading the audience to the discovery of the birth of the Sistine Chapel frescoes, which, thanks to 270° immersive projection technology, engulf the viewer in all their majestic beauty. Indeed, the viewer is at the very center of an event originated from the contamination of many different forms of art: on the one hand the physical action of the theatrical performance meets the immaterial magic of the special effects, on the other the most advanced technology is at the service of a story told with words and images never seen before.
The project signed by television producer and prize-winning “designer of emotions” Marco Balich, and realized with the scientific advice of the Vatican Museums, is the first production of Artainment Worldwide Shows, and it sees the collaboration of Sting who composed the original musical theme, and Gabriele Vacis, who supervised the theatrical supervision.
