Following the American success, the streaming giant Netflix is organizing a two-day special opening event of “Los Pollos Hermanos” in Rome and Milan.
“Los Pollos Hermanos” is the famed family restaurant featured in the Breaking Bad series by Vince Gilligan and set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The owner is Gustavo “Gus” Fring, a seemingly mild and innocent entrepreneur who, in fact, is a dangerous and ruthless drug trafficker at the head of an organization dealing methamphetamine.
The special openings on May 12th and 13th will coincide with the release of the third season of Better Call Saul, spin-off of the main series featuring Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and the King of Fried Chicken, Gustavo “Gus” Fring. Netflix’s Facebook event plays with the Italian word “stupefacente” – astonishing – to describe the taste of the fried chicken, because it is a synonym of psychotropic drug; and it reads: “You can talk to the restaurant owner by calling 342 0305572. Do not hesitate to contact him!”
Calling the number fans can listen to the calm and placid voice of the legendary Gus, dubbed by actor Giancarlo Esposito, that gives the details of the two openings and reassures customers to let him know if they experience any kind of problem he “will personally take care of it.” Double meanings that are tied to the ambiguous character portrayed in the series.
The two-day event will take place in two actual fried chicken fast food restaurants located in Piazza XXIV Maggio, 4 (Milan) and Via Cavour 333/335 (Rome), which, for the occasion, will be set up as the Albuquerque chain restaurant, allowing customers to experience a Breaking Bad experience.
